Fitness

Our 3,300 square foot Fitness Area contains almost 100 pieces of the latest Nautilus and Stairmaster equipment, along with numerous Troy dumbbells, Cybex plate-loaded machines and free weights. We also have a "cardio-theatre" system for TV viewing while you're working out, and a fully staffed fitness desk, complete with an AED machine for your safety.

Fitness attendants are glad to "show you the ropes." Members may track their progress on individually designed "workout logs" available at the desk. We also have two certified, personal trainers on staff to help you tailor your workout to your needs:

Water Aerobic Classes

Basic Water Exercise: Perfect for seniors or adults just getting started! Enjoy gentle exercise and improve range of motion without the force of gravity. This is a great program for arthritic and cardiac patients. Flexibility and strengthening exercises are a big part of this class. Forty-five minute classes take place Monday through Friday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. for members only ($1 drop-in fee); Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays September through May from 2 to 2:45 p.m. for members only ($1 drop-in fee); and Saturdays from 9:15 to 10 a.m. ($1 for members, $2 for resident nonmembers and $3 for nonresidents).

Water Jog Aerobics: This new and exciting program combines aqua jogging in the current channel with low to medium impact aerobic exercise. Perfect for those who can't stand high impact running and aerobics, and want to build muscle while improving flexibility. No swimming experience needed. 45 minute class takes place Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. ($1 for members, $2 for resident nonmembers and $3 for nonresidents).

Water Aerobics: Pick up the intensity. Exercise will include at least 20 minutes of moderate to high-level aerobics. Increase your cardiovascular fitness, muscle toning and flexibility in a safe environment. 45 minute classes take place Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 6:45 p.m. ($1 for members, $2 for resident nonmembers and $3 for nonresidents).  

 Land Aerobic Classes

Body Sculpting: This 60 minute cardiovascular strength training class shapes and tones the entire body. No jumping or dancing . . . just results! Dumbbells, exercise mats and stretch bands are provided. Just bring a water bottle. Free trial class. Phenomenal Abdominals: This 30 minute class focuses on all areas of the abs. Exercises are designed to increase torso strength and reduce lower back strain. No dumbbells. 30/20 Basic Training: 30 minutes of circuit and interval training, for the purpose of calorie burning, losing inches & toning! 20 minutes of Zumba! Dance yourself thinner! Register by calling Michelle at 216-402-4695. Classes take place Tuesday and Thursday from 6:15 to 7:10 p.m.  

Jazzercise: The original dance exercise phenomenon! Each class offers a blend of jazz dance and exercise science set to your favorite music: Top 40, jazz, country, funk and the classics. Easy-to-follow, fun choreography includes a gentle warm-up, 30 minute workout, a muscle toning and strengthening segment with weights and ends with a stretch. Vist us at www.jazzercise.com. Tae Kwon Do: Tae Kwon Do is the art of self-defense using the hands and feet. Ted is a fourth degree black belt and is committed to focusing on the individual needs of each student. Debi's Got Gut? Boot Camp: Experience the difference with this 60 minute session that will jump start your metabolism, moitivate your mind & inspire you to heights you've never reached! SilverSneakers®: Individuals 65 & over who have Medicare coverage through Anthem, Humana or AARP Supplemental coverage are eligible to take fitness classes for FREE. All others pay just $2 per class! Muscular Strength classes meet on Tuesdays from 8:30-9:30 am & on Thursdays from 8-9 am. YogaStretch classes meet on Mondays & Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30 am. Cardio Circuit classes meet on Tuesdays from 9:45-10:45 am & Fridays from 8:30-9:30 am. SilverSplash water exercise classes meet on Mondays & Fridays from 2-3 pm.            

Extreme Pump It Up Fitness!: A high-energy fitness program that uses barbells, weights & stretch bands to tone & burn those muscles to look & feel great! Barbell Pump Classes meet on Tuesdays from 10:55-11:55 am & 5-6 pm, Thursdays from 10-11 am & 5-6 pm, Fridays from 10-11 am & Saturdays from 9:15-10:15 am. A circuit training class called Cardio Pump, will be held on Mondays & Wednesdays from 5-6 pm.   

Line Dancing: This class is coming to us from the Tri-City Sr. Center and is anyone who wants to learn how to line dance to various kinds of music; country, cha-cha, waltzes, polkas, etc. All ages are welcome and there is no residency requirement. The fee is just $2.50 per class. Classes meet on Mondays from Noon-1 pm.

Nordic Pole Walking: This class will be held indoors (during cold weather) and outdoors (during warm weather). The class is taught by Noreen Feikle, a certified Nordic Pole Walking instructor through Foot Solutions, Inc. The fee is just $5 per class and is payable to the instructor. We're in the process of deciding when this class will be conducted.

Nautilus For Teens: This class is for boys & girls ages 12-14 who would like personal instruction on how to properly use our Nautilus equipment in order to continue work-outs thereafter without parental supervision. Classes are every Saturday morning from 9-10 am and kids must attend 1 month worth of classes starting with the first Saturday of the month. The fee is $10 for members, $15 for residents & $20 for non-members/non-residents.
