Division of Building

The Division of Building is involved in all activities associated with residential and commercial construction and alterations. Specifically, the division reviews construction plans and documents, issues permits, inspects work covered by the permits issued and registers contractors licensed to perform construction or alteration work in the city. Through these activities, the division is responsible for ensuring that the construction and alteration work performed meets the standards defined by the design criteria, all applicable codes and the approved plans.

The City of Middleburg Heights Division of Building enforces the current versions of the following codes, as adopted through the city's codified ordinances:

Property Maintenance

The Division of Building enforces the Middleburg Heights Property Maintenance Code which requires that all properties, including structures, drives and grass be well maintained. Standards have been established to preserve neighborhoods and prevent blighted properties. If you have a property maintenance complaint, please contact the Zoning Inspector

Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays.

Inspections

The City of Middleburg Heights employs state certified inspectors in all facets of construction (electric, plumbing, mechanical, fire protection, etc.). Inspections are conducted from 10 a.m.
to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

We request that inspections be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. However, inspections may be scheduled for the same day, if phoned-in by 9:30 a.m. All inspection times are approximate.

The Community Center

The Community Center will be closed on Thursday, September 9 until 4 pm in order for CEI to do some work on the main power line which will result in no electricity in the building for much of the day. All meetings, classes and activities that are normally held between 6 am-4 pm will be cancelled that day. Thank you for understanding!

After Prom Reservations

The Middleburg Heights Community Center is now taking After Prom reservations for 2011. We offer swimming, basketball, volleyball and our community rooms with a full size catering kitchen. Additional space is available for other activities. Please click here for details.
